REPRINTED FROM FIVB e-NEWS: Colorado Springs, USA, January 24, 2013 – American beach volleyball players Todd Rogers and Ryan Doherty are forming a new partnership for 2013. Both are looking to forge a path ahead after major changes to their careers. At the end of 2012, Rogers, 39, dissolved his partnership with Phil Dalhausser after seven years. The pair had competed in two Olympic Games, winning the gold medal in 2008. They had also won the 2007 FIVB World Championship and the 2010 FIVB World Tour Championship, along with numerous international and domestic titles. Doherty, 28, pursued a career as a professional baseball pitcher until 2007, when he was released from the Arizona Diamondbacks farm system. He moved in with a friend in North Carolina and started playing beach volleyball. With the advantage of standing about 2.15 metres tall, he found success and moved to Southern California to pursue the sport full time. Dalhausser will be playing with two-time Olympian Sean Rosenthal in 2013. Rogers played alongside Phil Dalhausser for seven years until the two parted ways at the end of 2012 |
