Hello Volleyballers,

We are quickly approaching Jan. 8, date of the 4th Annual Saipan Coed Grass Volleyball Championships!

This is an unique tournament format in which the court nets are set at “women’s height,” men cannot hit in front of a chalked 10’ line on the court, nor can men jump-serve.  The tournament is capped at 25 teams and if full, will begin with five pools of five teams each.  The top three teams from each pool plus one more “wild card,” 4th-place pool finisher, will advance to the 16-team double elimination portion of the tournament.

There will be lots of great prizes to be won such as Shell fuel certificates from IP&E, Gold’s Gym Super 10 passes, PIC brunch-and-waterpark passes, online value coupons from San Diego-based PlasticClothing.com, watersport certificates from BSEA Sunsports, lots of various goodies from IT&E, dining certificates from Tony Roma’s and Truong’s restaurants, beach chairs and more.  Plus every entrant gets a tourney t-shirt (see attached).  Proceeds from this tournament will go to the NMIVA Development Fund.

Also, Pacific Trading and Triple J Super Fresh Market have teamed up to provide Gatorade, water, bananas and other beverages for players’ rehydration while Mili and her SIS students will be cooking up and serving burritos, burgers and other goodies.

We are kindly asking for early confirmations of partnerships so that we know how close we are coming to the 25-team cap.  We have a number of requests from under-18, youth players to join this tourney but would like to get a fairly accurate count of how many adult teams will be entered before we open entries to youth teams.  So please, grab your partner and kindly “reply all” to us and Laurie by this weekend if possible with your team confirmation.  Again, this tourney will be capped at 25 teams.

Thanks,
Randy and Heather
Co-tourney directors
