Over 70 students from both the public and private school systems turned out on Monday, December 6, 2010, at the Marianas High School gym to meet and work under Coach Charlie and his sidekicks, Guam Coaches Chris Sheppard and Ashley Watanabe. Sheppard and Watanabe are UOH alumni.

"This is what NMIVA is all about. We want to provide as many opportunities as we can to give kids the chance to experience the sport. We want those who have never played before to feel good about showing up and trying for the first time. We want our more experienced junior level players to have a chance to learn at new level and from someone outside the local coaching system. We want those who believe that they want to pursue volleyball at the college level to have the exposure and an opportunity to gain understanding about how to make their vision a reality," said NMIVA President, Laurie Peterka.
